It doesn't get any better.
In the gallery above I tried to show all the elements that lead to a great mid-ride campfire. Chilly, snow-packed trails, slippery ascents, river crossings where no one made it through with dry feet- these are the things that make the fire feel truly great. Once burning, we all gathered around and sat quietly, staring intently at the warmth. The fire provided that little relief needed to keep a day of light adventuring from turning into a tired, cranky mess. It was the perfect time to stretch out our legs, dry our gloves and boots, and warm our cores for the chilly night of riding ahead.
